| WORKSHOP
Stainless steels have emerged as one of the very
important engineering materials, designed for strength, corrosion
resistance. and easy fabrication. Continued growth in the use of
stainless steels necessitates a deeper understanding of different
grades, production methods, selection for particular use, fabrication
methods, quality assurance, microstructure, mechanical properties
and service performance. Several developments are taking place in
the science and technology of stainless steels across the globe
towards expanding their usage in variety of applications. To enrich
ourselves with the recent developments in the field of stainless
steels. ASM International Chennai Chapter is organising a two days
workshop. Experts drawn from Premier Research Laboratories, Educational
Institutes and Industries across the country will be delivering
lectures on various topics related to stainless steels. This workshop
provides an opportunity for all the people connected with stainless
steels to understand and enrich their knowledge for efficient usage
of stainless steels in service.
SCOPE
The workshop is carefully designed to suit the
needs of the shop-floor personnel, engineers, metallurgists and
designers working in industries as well as scientists involved in
basic research. The workshop broadly covers the following areas
of specialisation.
- Design
- Selection
- Processing
- Surface Modification
- NDE & QA
- Service Exposure
|
- Welding
- Heat treatment
- Failure Analysis
- Research and Development
|
All the participants will receive a copy of the
lecture notes before the commencement of the workshop to stimulate
discussions during the course of workshop.
